Hi everyone, 

I'm Ian, I'm 53 years old and live in the UK. I've always loved music and always wanted to play guitar. I owned a cheap acoustic guitar most of my life, but never had lessons and could never figure out how to play it; I had no musical education or confidence and assumed I simply didn't have 'talent'. In 2008 (age 43) though, I bought Steve's 'Learn and Master Guitar Course' and never looked back. The course is brilliantly laid out and the accompanying community forum was incredibly supportive and encouraging. I was known as isdavies on that forum.

I'm still no Eric Clapton, but am absolutely thrilled that I've learned to play to a level where I can play and sing simple songs with new friends at a local folk club. From the music theory I learned from Steve, I've gone on to learn about songwriting; writing and recording songs has become a little side hobby.

Three years ago, I also started to take singing lessons from a brilliant local singing coach. As well as improving my voice, she provides an opportunity twice per year to perform solo in front of an audience of 100 to 200 people. This terrifies me, but I've forced myself to do it. My confidence at playing guitar and singing solo in front of other people is slowly (very slowly) growing.

So, from not knowing how to play a note aged 43 I'm a 53 year old who considers himself 'an experienced beginner' singer, guitar player and songwriter... and I love it!
