  1. Joao, That was a wonderful site that I visited often. Those videos contain a wealth of information. Thanks for all the work you have put into this!
  2. And Artisan Guitars and Cotten Music (now North American Guitar) are right around the corner. Probably no other place where you can see and play so many world class guitars.
  3. Excellent! Also - congrats on the Furch OM - I have heard good things about them. Dave
  4. Very nice Wim. It took me a long time to get anywhere near as nice as your recording. Thanks for posting!
  5. Hi everyone - Adam Rafferty is offering his new beginning fingerstyle course free for the next two days. I took a look at the course, and even though it is billed as introductory, I think even intermediate players could benefit from some of the material. And hey, it's free! Topics include: Guitar Basics Basic Chords “Fingerstyle Essentials” Right Hand Exercises Learn to play the “Boom Chick” Blues in E Learn to Play "Ain't No Sunshine" - the Percussion, Bass and Chord Groove How to Create a Fingerstyle Guitar Arrangement: “Silent Night” Advanced Fingerstyle - "Shelter Island” Advanced Fingerstyle -"Silent Night” Something FUN 🙂 The 4 Levels of Thumb Picking (Boom-Chick) Advanced "Groove Slap" Technique in 12/8 The link to sign up for the course is below: Click HERE to grab the course FREE on Udemy Here’s the coupon code: LEARNGUITAR1
  6. Hi Rob, You may be thinking of the Canon in D video that was hosted on the old Gibson guitar site. I bet I watched that video 100 times when I was in lesson 10. Unfortunately, Gibson took down those videos years ago and I have not been able to find them anywhere. Welcome to the new forum! Dave
  7. Are you looking for the companion book for the course? If so, it is available at Steve's store (spiral bound). Link here.
  8. Same here Neil - both my mom and dad passed away over the past two years. I am glad I took the time to call them (and take their calls) as often as I could. As Neil said - if you still have family to call - give them a call, even if you don't have anything special to say!
  9. I pretty much stay with the gauge used by the manufacturer. 9's on electrics and 12's on acoustics (except smaller bodied acoustics where I use 11's).
  10. I attended one of Greg Voros' two-day workshops several years ago. When it was time to re-string my acoustic, I wanted to use 11's (which is what I had been using). Greg chided me and said that I would be losing too much tone. I have been using 12's ever since (except on guitars that use a pyramid bridge - where I use 11's). I would think that going from 13's to 10's would require a truss rod adjustment.
  11. Barb - I purchased it because I wanted a uke I could plug into my acoustic amp. It is loud enough without being plugged in - plugged in, it is amazing.
  12. New ukulele day. Mother and baby are doing fine. 🙂
  13. The Zoom sessions sound great!

  14. I have been working on and off from home for the past two weeks. Typically, I have been spending about a half day in the office and then the rest of the day fending off emails and participating in conference calls or Zoom meetings. I have had a bit more focused time to practice and play, but not enough. However, tomorrow that will change. April 1 is my first day of retirement 🙂 Picked a great time to start tapping into those retirement accounts. 😐 So I have a plan, a course to work through, and lots of (well enough) guitars and other miscellaneous equipment. We will see how it goes. I'll keep you posted.
