WHAM, designated by a W. The string is “WHAMMED” up and stretched. I am not sure, is this an old term used for “bending” or maybe just “unison bends” in Mississippi Delta Blues Guitar? Freddie Spruell probably whammed a few strings playing “Milk Cow Blues” a hundred years ago and McKinley Morganfield probably wasn’t no stranger to this “special effect”.

I didn’t realize there were two types of grace notes the more familiar one being the acciaccatura. Charles Duncan and “A Modern Approach to Classical Guitar” This seems to be a pretty good course for someone trying to learning classical guitar without a private teacher. One of the members was recently talking about The Band Metallica I am not a “heavy metal”fan but I thought I’d take a look at the song to see what he was talking about; “One” by Metallica. First off it is 18 pages of music, and it wasn’t what I had imagined. It actually looked pretty interesting.On page 8 it has some “pick tapping”. I kinda remember Steve talking about tapping in session 14. Here it said to use the edge of the pick and not your finger. That got my attention. So I had to google pick tapping to see what exactly was happening using this method..There we’re a few videos on “pick tapping” and the videos explained how they were using a pick instead of a finger which was interesting because it eliminates the need to magically get the pick out of the way when transitioning to tapping.However since I never really tried tapping I started looking for a beginner lesson and found a Fender Play video that gave some history and discussed the basic tapping technique in more detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsHV0R5H3e8
