  1. Thanks @Nutty 1 and @Wim VD1, I appreciate your comments. I do, in fact, enjoy singing harmonies.
  2. It's amazing what the Beatles could do with two chords and a riff. They performed this song in the key of G but that's too high for me to sing, so I did it in E. I'm not entirely happy with the vocal mix but I couldn't spend any more time on it. Thanks for listening.
  3. @Wim VD1 Beautiful, as always. Your entire catalog of fingerstyle songs is very impressive. @NeilES335 Excellent job. Nice tight rhythm and good clean tone on the lead.
  4. @Simira and @Wim VD1, You both deserve high praise for tackling such difficult songs. Each one was a joy to listen to. Thanks to everyone for their nice comments about my tune.
  5. I've been out of touch for a while, and I was hard pressed to come up with a song about a place or location. But then I thought: wait a minute, "the roof" is a place, so how about this one? It's done in the style of James Taylor.
  6. I finished this one today, barely in time for the August challenge. It contains the lyric "And the sunshine we've been waiting for will turn to rain". Mandy, I have to give you a shout-out because your rendition of "Nights in White Satin" a few months ago inspired me to do a Moody Blues song. Thanks for listening.
  7. Another great job @Texaspackerfan. The production quality of your songs continues to amaze me.
  8. Thanks @Wim VD1, @Nutty 1 and @IanD. Mandy, it's been so long since I saw "Dirty Dancing" I didn't realize it featured this song. Thanks for the reminder.
  9. This was a hit for the Shirelles in 1960, but I did it in the style of Carol King (who co-wrote the song). Please enjoy.
  10. I was thinking the same thing. I guess it's because they had so many good songs under 2:30. Kevin
  11. Hat's off to everyone who has contributed this month -- it's a pleasure to listen to all of you. Here's a short one from the Beatles' Abbey Road:
  12. Simply beautiful Danny. Not only is your playing excellent, but so is the sound engineering. Is that a real pedal steel guitar in the background, or were you able to produce that sound in your DAW?
  13. I'm a huge James Taylor fan, so I thought this would be a good one for this month's theme. Thanks for listening.
  14. It's good to have you back @mark_h. I really like hearing your songs because you play with such nice tone and emotion. @Wim VD1, this is your best one yet. I must admit I never heard this song before. I can see why it was a challenge to record – it has a great groove.
  15. Mandy, Danny, and Ian, thanks for the encouraging words. By the way, Danny, as a lifelong Wisconsin resident I really get a kick out of your screen name. Do you get a lot of grief as a Packer fan living in Texas?
  16. Here's my cover of a Bob Dylan tune. I don't play harmonica, so I tried a few guitar solos instead. Please enjoy.
  17. Thanks @NeilES335, @IanD AND @Oldjock. Neil, I share your pain regarding the difficulty of recording a clean take. I can play a song cleanly in practice dozens of times, but it's a whole different story when the microphone is in front of me.
  18. I think this one meets the criteria since it talks about "a long cold lonely winter". I can relate to that, given the cold weather we had last week here in the Midwest.
  19. @Wim VD1 I think this is your best one yet. Ingenious use of the guitar to create the organ part. Nice job @Oldjock, especially for a first time submission. I look forward to more posts in the future.
