So @S Bach, how is that Silver Sky working for you now that you've been playing it a few weeks? I'm sure great. I didn't post in the forums but the week before last I was in Chicago. I went to 3 different PRS dealers and played a lot of PRS guitars. Of course the biggest one was Chicago Music Exchange. I fell in love with a Limited Edition Cherry Sunburst Custom 24 there. I almost acted on it when I was there. Fortunately, I came home empty handed. But it is so gorgeous. I'm still thinking!

Those of you that know me, know that I am a PRS Guitars supporter. (Or you can look in my sig) And Santana is in large part why I fell in love with guitar music. But this isn't about that. Carlos makes one complimentary comment about PRS guitars. Maybe Warren Haynes says something nice about PRS amps. There is no selling of equipment in this video. Nor is there any technique lesson here. This is, from the description, " A philosophical conversation about tone and the quest to find your own voice featuring Carlos Santana, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and Paul Reed Smith. " Warren said something to the effect, "It's about the singers and getting your instrument sound like a singer." One of them said, "If it doesn't give you goosebumps how can you expect it to give the audience goosebumps?". It was 3 of the greatest living guitarists talking casually and candidly about what they strive for when performing or playing. I found it very interesting. I hope you enjoy it.

Should be a great one!!! Hoochie Koo!! -
Being a science nerd I was excited to see the first ever image of a black hole. If you watched any news last week you couldn't help but see announcements of this. Pretty exciting stuff! Well, it is to me. But what does this have to do with music, you ask. As a moderator I'm supposed to watch to make sure only music related posts are allowed here. Well look what the astronomers found when they zoomed in! This explains a lot.

Nashville Guitar Stores
matonanjin replied to Dave White's topic in Guitar Gathering Conferences & Retreats
If you only hit one, as @Dave White said, " Gruhn Guitars (It goes without saying - The guitar store) " -
@Triple-o, @Odie, @John Wells & @guitarben all of you. Thank you for the education on this. Very interesting.

@mark_h, it is really nice to have you back sharing because your recordings are always very enjoyable. In fact, I was listening to this and my wife walked by my office and asked, "What song is that?". I told her and she said, "That is really pretty". Could you explain for this recording newbie what you meant by the phrase "to add some strings"?

Play It Loud: Guitar exhibit at The Met
matonanjin replied to matonanjin's topic in Guitar Open Talk
I am jealous!😉 -
The Metropolitan Museum of Art has an exhibit of some of the most iconic instruments in Rock & Roll History. And, as it relates to us, predictably, many of these instruments are guitars. The exhibit is titled "Play It Loud". To name just a few: Chuck Berry's guitar that he recorded many of his hits with including Johnny B Goode Don Feldner's double necked guitar that he recorded Hotel California with. Steve Miller's Guitar that he a surf board painter design John Lennon's 12 String Rickenbacker Jimi Hendix's white Strat from Woodstock (Not a guitar but) Ringo Starr's drum kit from the Ed Sullivan show Over 100 instruments in the display From the Play it Loud website: " For the first time, a major museum exhibition will examine the instruments of rock and roll. One of the most important artistic movements of the twentieth century, rock and roll’s seismic influence was felt across culture and society. Early rock musicians were attracted to the wail of the electric guitar and the distortion of early amplifiers, a sound that became forever associated with rock music and its defining voice. Rock fans have long been fascinated with the instruments used by musicians. Many have sought out and acquired the exact models of instruments and equipment used by their idols, and spent countless hours trying to emulate their music and their look. The instruments used in rock and roll had a profound impact on this art form that forever changed music. The exhibition is co-organized with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and will present approximately 130 instruments alongside posters and costumes. Many of rock's most celebrated and recognized instruments will be featured, representing artists across generations and subgenres. In addition to institutional and private collectors, many musicians are lending their performance and recording instruments."

Greg Voros visits Premier Guitar to Discuss vintage Gibsons
matonanjin replied to Randy120's topic in Guitar Open Talk
Anyone that feels they need the different guitars for different needs (all of us?) should have one of these in the herd/stable. This is just one of those "must have" categories. As you probably know I have somewhat turned into a PRS Fanboy but as you said, @NeilES335, every time I play the guitar in my profile I go " thats a great guitar". A lot of people don't realize that when the Memphis division of Gibson came out with these, the "ES" stood for "Electric Spanish" and the "335" or "325" or "345", etc. was the manufacturer's suggested retail of the guitar. -
Congratulations @S Bach! Gorgeous guitar and you are going to play some great blues with that axe. I am reading this after watching a presentation by Paul Read Smith at Chicago Music Exchange. It was very interesting.

Greg Voros visits Premier Guitar to Discuss vintage Gibsons

Thanks for the link, Randy. Three guitars of similar vintage year and construction. Yet, their conversation brought out the different personalities of the guitars. Really interesting. -
There are a few Boss eBand JS-10 users on here. Those of you that have one know, the user manual is multilingual and so huge. I downloaded the pdf of the manual and printed out just the English portion of it. I took that to a copy place and had it bound. This is much more usable. But I then lost it or thought I did. So I duplicated my steps. And, of course, shortly afterwards found the first one. So I now have two. If anyone on here would like my extra one, send me a PM. Of course, this going to be fcfs.

Session 6 - Minor Seventh & Suspended Chords
matonanjin replied to NeilES335's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
I'm not sure I agree with that, Doug. You don't think there is occasion that calls for the open chord version? -
Session 6 - Minor Seventh & Suspended Chords
matonanjin replied to NeilES335's topic in Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar
HYA, this won't make you feel much better, I'm sure, but I think we all had difficulty with that chord. I sure did. It's a lot of fingers in a small area. It just takes a lot of practice developing the muscle memory getting those fingers to land in just that exact spot so the chord will ring clearly. It will come.
