  2. Here is a brief video of some of Ed King's (Lynyrd Skynyrd) equipment that is currently at Carter Vintage Guitars. They were filming some of this when I visited Nashville last month.

  3. I'm a Steve guy. I have pretty much all of the courses he has done. I've purchased many of the "monthly specials" that he's recommended as well from pedals and cables to song books and tools. I'm really trying to stay focused in one direction - "too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the soup". Whenever I've surfed the web and been tempted by other "learn this song" videos, I think to myself, if I just practiced a little more with LMG I could play this by myself without this video. It also feels a little bit like I'm cheating on Steve! Steve has given so much to thiis community that I want to support him any way that I can. It's a small investment considering what I've gotten back from him and all of this that he gave life to. I want to see it continue and grow. I'm on Session 4 - I've been here quite awhile but that's another story for another time. The point I want to make is that with all of the resources I've acquired from Steve, I have everything and I mean everything I need to become a real guitar player. Well, at least until he releases his next course...... Bill

  5. No disrespect to Popular Mechanics, but you know what I've found has a profound and immediate impact on my tone... Practice. (But I am a sucker for a pretty red guitar!)

  6. In LMG session 18, Steve teaches us how to jazz up chord progressions. That background, together with the Jazz Chords Fretboard Workout, helped me a lot when learning this slow blues. Thanks for listening, Wim.

  7. @FThomas As I stated in my previous post you can't adjust the action on your Taylor with the method on Greg's DVD. You have to have a Taylor trained tech change the shims for the Taylor NT neck. All the other info on Greg's DVD applies to you Taylor and any other acoustic guitar.

  9. Here is my offering "I Love the Wintertime" It is an original composed, played and sang by me using all real instruments except the drums and the sea waves sound (see below). I actually used a ukulele to do the bass (a Kala Rumbler UBass). This track was composed using "Sea Waves" audio recording (Attribution 3.0) by Mike Koenig http://soundbible.com/885-Sea-Waves.html. I used an EQ to take out some of the lower frequencies so that it would fit well into my composition. ??Merry Christmas Everyone??, I hope you have a great day whatever you are doing.

  10. On Tuesday, I made a quick trip to Nashville to visit with Collin Hill and his family, tour a few guitar stores, and attend a Live Lesson. Below are a few photos. First stop - Carter's Vintage Guitars: The mural on the side of the building (nice rendition of Mother Maybelle); a couple George Harrison-related items (that's not the real Rocky - but a nice replica none the less); Carter's back room (actually, come to think of it, it is in the front) - anyway, that is where they keep the really expensive stuff. While I was there, they were taking photographs of items from Ed King's (Lynyrd Skynyrd) estate. Great store, nice folks. I met Collin and his family at Cotten Music and had a nice chat with the store owner Kim Sherman. Cotten is a wonderful smaller shop that is very close to Carter's and Gruhn's. Then we were off to Gruhn's to get ready for Live Lessons. The rest of the photos were taken just prior to and during the live lesson. Special thanks to Tuesday's Live Lessons crew (Steve and Dave) - without them, there wouldn't be any Live Lessons! I also was able to spend some time with Greg Voros, got to speak with George Gruhn, and met with Joshua MacLeod and the Instruments of Joy staff. And all that took place in 24 hours!
