  1. Hi Everyone, I am new to the Guitar world. I have always wanted to play guitar. Finally, my journey has started this week with Learn & Master Guitar - session 1. Being a lefty and having never played any instrument before, the road might be bumpy, but I will enjoy it all along! I joined this discussion board after reading few articles at https://community.learnandmaster.com. Happy playing!!!

  2. Recently my feet got tangled up in a guitar cable when I got up to go into another room, went down fairly hard on my knees. Luckily, I was not seriously hurt. So, I started thinking about looking into wireless guitar systems. I play mostly at home, but have been participating in a blues jam once a month at a local tavern. While checking the different systems with price in mind and the fact I'm not going to be playing at Madison Square Garden or Carnegie Hall anytime soon, I came across the U2 Xvive wireless guitar system. There is a video on Guitar Center on this system. Its range is a 100 feet. I have had mine a few days and used it with 3 different guitars, Strat, Telecaster and ES 355 with 3 different amps, Blues Junior, Mustang II and Champion 600. I can sum up the performance by saying I love this system,. its perfect for what I do.The sound through the amps is great! It could not be any simpler, plug the transmitter in the guitar and the receiver jack in the amp input, and you are in business! The black system is $154.90, the other colors are 5 dollars less. I highly recommend it to anyone who would like to be wireless on a small budget. The only thing to be aware of is that it does not work with an acoustic guitar that has a battery operated preamp onboard the guitar, I can only guess it cancels out the signal somehow. Dan Brown ?

  3. Had it for a couple of weeks now, but have acquired a new Squier Classic Vibe Tele (buttercream). After a couple of tweaks (it apparently got banged around in shipping - see below) I love it. Of course I had to promise the missus I'd sell something to have money towards the new ax so I sold my red Squier Standard Strat to a good friend (who also does guitar repair work for me and did the tweaks to my Tele when it wouldn't tune correctly and had a low E string buzz). I'll see the Strat again, however, because my pal loves it so much he's going to use it on a regular basis (it's his go-to guitar now) for our church praise and worship services. (All he did was adjust the saddles a bit and put on a new set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings.) He replaced his hand-made clear Lucite-bodied Strat shape with my Squier Strat.

  4. Well, I made through all 20 lessons Learn and Master Guitar! I want to thank you, @Steve Krenz for putting together such a wonderful, well thought out, and educational course. Your guitar course is hands down the best guitar learning course out there!!! I started Steve's guitar course many years ago and never expected to get this much out of one course. It has been an amazing adventure. I began playing the drums in high school, well Jr High first then decided I would like to learn the guitar as well. I started learning guitar, (i guess i was in my twenties) had a teacher for a year or so, i might add he taught me the bass along side the guitar and then life its you. stop playing for a while, well off and on but never really got anywhere with it. Sure, i could play songs and new a lot of chords with the help of Mel Bay books, ha! But it wasn't going anywhere. It wasn't enough. So many years later, now in my forties i came across Steve's guitar course. I told myself, i'm going to stick to it this time and wow!!!! What an adventure it has been. Now after completing the course I see now this is just one step in many more to come. So much more to learn. I can't get enough. I've since moved on to learning chicken picking, slide, and trying to emulate the pedal steel and fiddle sounds on the guitar. Also, I would like to thank all of the people on this site. This is truly a great family. Thank you guys and gals! I made a recording for session 20. I found a song I could Incorporate the B &E drone sounds. The song is called "Don't Ya", by Brett Eldredge. I left out some of the vocals so you could possible hear the B and E drone sounds. Again, Thank you all! Remember, Never give up and never stop learning! Danny

  5. Danny, I don't know how I missed this original post at the 1st of the month. Congratulations on one very remarkable accomplishment. You are among a very few that can say they have done this. And thank you for all your very positive contributions to this forum while you completed L&MG.

  7. A quick video of how to set up your profile and the account settings section might be helpful to new users. How to add things like the signatures under posts, profile pics, the member map, etc... I'll give I some more thought for other specifics....

  8. Hello All, It's been a very long time since I posted, probably due to laziness more than anything else! I have not given up playing guitar by any means, I have stopped buying them at 15 at the last count! Now that winter is approaching, I am hoping to set aside time each week to get a little bit more active on this forum again. I first got involved with the L&MG forum about 7 years ago, October 2011. I am in touch with Ron (Mantonanjin) and should be seeing him at the end of February 2019 on the Keeping the Blues Alive Cruise. Those of you who may remember me know I went through serious issues with cancer, and if it weren't for clinical trials and immunotherapy, I would not be here. I will leave it that at that. Even during my worst days, when I had the strength , I picked up the guitar. Fast forward to the present time, I have finally gotten the nerve to get up and play in front of people. There is a blues jam usually the first Sunday of the month at a local tavern, Murphy's Tavern, it was a speakeasy back in prohibition times, pretty cool place, it is basically in the basement of of a house in Rumson, NJ. Anyway, a group of us get together with a vocalist, Nate Fagen, who sings and plays guitar to various blues classics, and then goes around the room picking on each one of us to do a little solo. I enjoy it, and try to make them all. I just started adding pedals to the mix, we will see how that goes. I just purchased the newest Full Drive 2 by Fulltone, it has different modes and sounds to it, I was just playing around with it a little while ago, it going to take some getting used to, figuring out which settings I like best. My thanks to NeilES335 starting me right off with making a purchase of Money Chords, before I even made this first post in a long long time, good salesmanship Neil ! It's good being out here again, I promise to try to become active again, and check in at least a couple of times a week !!! Thanks, Dan Brown ?

  9. Quilter, Welcome back to you as well, I hope everything is good with you also. I am doing very good, I am very aware that I am very lucky to be alive with all the advances in cancer research, clinical trails and immunotherapy. Still playing guitar as much as time allows me, and playing with others as much as possible, its so much fun! Dan Brown ?

  10. I have been playing tenor uke for some years now. I play jazz, Americana, silly uke songs. If you place a capo on the fifth fret of a guitar and play only the 4 high strings, you’ll get a uke - GCEA.

  11. Beautiful Amy. Very smooth and flawless. Very nice hand position and of course the "classical guitar" placement. Watching your fingers is like a watching a skilled tennis stroke in efficiency. Very nice. Greg

  12. I wish I could take credit for thinking of the Monthly Recording Challenge but it was started by a member with ID BenBob. I haven't seen him on the forum for about 3 or 4 years so I took it over about 3 years ago. The idea was to share member recordings in a central thread. Each month the previous month's "winner" picks the theme for the next moth. By winner I mean random participant picked by dice roll. In my experience I have learned a lot from participating in the challenge. I have not played much lately because of lack of time and hand pain but when I do participate I try to find a song that matches the theme and also has elements of what I am working on for skill development. I have enjoyed it over the years. Some months we will have lots of entries 7 to 10 other months we have only 1 or 2. Everyone is welcome to post no matter the level of their play. Some of the members are pros others are beginners. The main thing I like is it gives me a chance to learn new songs that I like. As for posting format, there are no rules. Videos are welcome. I think most people use Soundcloud because a post from there does not take up space on there forum login. Hope to hear from you soon.

  13. I'm with K9- A TAB at the top with little drop down menu for different tutorials of "How To's" would be a lot of help. I don't post a lot and I have to stop and figure out everything from scratch again, plus my memory is slipping more than a 200,000 mile clutch!
