You can't go wrong following Gary's lead. The Academy lessons present a lot to learn in a short period of time and it sure goes by fast . I reference back frequently, enjoy your musical learning !

I thought I'd either order one with 40 series appointments, or a more basic version. I was more than a little timid about ordering, because I really wanted to be able to play it before committing. Lo and behold, my favorite local shop got a new custom shop J in mahogany the other day, so I checked it out and snagged it immediately. It's basically a J-18, but with a premium grade torrified Sitka top. Very sweet guitar. It has plenty of volume like the 40, and the tone is solid and rich, but snappier and with more clarity than the 40. Love it.

Guitar Gathering Academy: Hymns (GGA-H4)

https://www.guitargathering.com/community/index.php?/topic/28035-guitar-gathering-academy-hymns-gga-h4/&do=findComment&comment=48633

Thanks, Gary. Glad you have enjoyed participating in the Hymns Academy. I did as well! I have taken part in several of the academies over the years, and have archived the emails that contain the link to the video lesson. I've never tried to download the lesson video itself from Youtube - I think you have to have the premium subscription for that. For the most part, the links have remained active and I have been able to access the lesson if I needed to refresh my memory for a past lesson. If for some reason a link doesn't work, I believe you can send Steve and email and he can provide the lesson to you.

Guitar Gathering Academy: Hymns (GGA-H4)

https://www.guitargathering.com/community/index.php?/topic/28035-guitar-gathering-academy-hymns-gga-h4/&do=findComment&comment=48629

The Guitar Gathering Academy hymns course is great!

I receive a weekly email with an attached PDF and a link to the lesson posted on YouTube.

Am I correct in assuming the video lessons are not provided to us as they are for other courses available for purchase from Guitar Gathering?

I would like to have a copy of the video lessons that I can reference as I continue working through the songs after the course is complete. I can download them from YouTube by subscribing to YouTube Premium. Is that the best way to do it, or is there another method used by the community?

Session 17 - Going Beyond the First Position

https://www.guitargathering.com/community/index.php?/topic/405-session-17-going-beyond-the-first-position/&do=findComment&comment=48621

It's time for me to move on from here. I've gotten to a point where I can play the major scales pretty well in a couple of keys, while others take a little while to think about before I can figure them out. The fretboard feels more familiar now, but I can't say I've memorized the fretboard. I have memorized several anchor points. Those points, the major scale patterns, in combination with some of my CAGED knowledge are pretty helpful in navigating around in a specific key.

This session took a much longer than I expected initially, but at this point, I do have my hands dipped in some other courses so I guess it shouldn't be unexpected, especially in these later sessions

Microtonality Music with Microtonality Guitars

https://www.guitargathering.com/community/index.php?/topic/28045-microtonality-music-with-microtonality-guitars/&do=findComment&comment=48620

I didn’t even know this existed, let alone you can get manufactured guitars (not home made) Microtonality
